Which camera is better Canon 1000D or Olympus E420?

I think to buy Canon 1000D 18-55 mm Lens Olympus 75-300mm extra or 14-42 40-150 mm E-420 mm for other purposes. These cameras are sold with two obectives. Please could you advice that is of better quality. The difference in price is 100 euros. I am not a professional photographer. Thank you!

After examining the two I went with Olympus, but recommends you buy a better lens.
