Coated or covered with filters of the camera, right?
I just bought a new digital SLR camera (Pentax KX) with two goals. I want to protect the lens and buy a pair of filters (the lenses have different diameters). After doing some basic research, I think most people use UV or Skylight filters also serve as protectors of the target. Most of my pictures indoors so probably going for UV filters. Should I get regular uncoated filters, even if there is a risk of lens flare and ghosting? Or should I pay extra money for a filter to reduce multi-layers to minimize the risk of lens flare and ghosting? The 2 lenses I have are covered (I see a green glow when held up to light). I am currently looking Hoya. B + W is too expensive. I read many reviews negatively on construction materials on the weak and the poor Tiffen.
You should definitely use coated filters for the same reason your goal is multi-layered. Not only coated filters minimize flare and ghosting when shooting in lights (including if the lights are not in the image area), resulting in better contrast in images taken in any light. coated filters may also reduce the risk reflections the sensor is reflected through the lens and is shown in pictures taken in small openings in environments where there are lots of stray light entering the goal from all angles, like the snow scene, water and beach scenes, with high brightness and uniform. For the same reasons, I recommend that people always use the visor lens – which protects the lens from physical abuse, as well as keeping the light of the spread of lens. Hoya filters I use and recommend.
