What is the best multimedia system for use in a house with a CAT5 cable installed in each room?
Great question! The following answer assumes that I have nothing underway, smart wiring, other than the CAT-5. In other words, you do not have speakers connected in either wall or ceiling. If yes, then the Sonos is probably the best answer. They are the coolest looking for a job and an autonomous system. For independent I mean, have a solution that includes a "spa-like" reading device, which has its own speakers in it. Something like a boom-box that is linked sophisticated, CAT-5 connection. Each unit acts as a "node" on the computer in your home network. Its remote interface Wireless (which resembles an iPod steroids) is very nice to use and offers artist / title information access system everthing. Of course, there must be a professional installer to ensure that all set up right, but if you're net-savvy, should not be just another Sunday "project" for you. Now, there are other competitors, Sony Vaio as a branch that does something similar, and you can get an Apple product or two that could be Useful, but you need a TV near (less) to function properly.
